One important part of your documentation toolkit is an infrastructure map of your Rock environment. You might be saying that you have that in your head already. But consider these points:
- You probably have it in your head today, but will you really remember all the details in 6 months?
Si When (technology is never perfect) something changes in your environment, having infrastructure maps with the last known settings will help you identify what’s changed.
- Let's say you're Rain Man and you do remember every detail. When there’s an issue, a picture of your environment is a helpful tool to review and brainstorm various places that could be causing the issue.
- During a crisis you’ll probably need to bring someone in to help. Having a map will help them understand your environment quickly.
At Triumph we create up-to-date infrastructure maps for each one of our Church Partners. Below is a sample of our base template. Often these maps get much more complex depending on the partner’s environment.
